The Nova Major Bantams opened the 2015-2016 hockey season, in defense of their Atlantic and Provincial Championships, on the road in Halifax this past weekend.
On Saturday evening The Novas battled the Dartmouth Whalers to a 3-2 victory. Scoring for the Novas were returning players Chase Ellis, Jake Stewart and Logan Chisholm. Stewart contributed two assists in the game for a three point night. Owen MacDonald, from Port Hood, handled the goaltending for The Novas turning aside 13 of the 15 shots he faced.
The Novas visited the Cole Harbour Storm on Sunday afternoon and skated away with a 6-1 victory. Scoring for The Nova were Jake Stewart with 2 goals, Matthew Raike with 2 goals, Logan Chisholm and Ella MacLean each with singles. Ewan MacDonald faced 24 shots by the Storm in nets for the Novas.
The Novas next see action next weekend when they face off against The Landworks Gulls in their home opener Saturday evening at 5:00PM in Port Hawkesbury. On Sunday the Halifax Accel Hawks visit for a 1:00PM start time in Port Hawkesbury.
