The Novas are pleased to recognize Assistant Captain Alex Dan MacDonnell (#3) as our Subway Player of the Month for October 2026!

A returning veteran, Alex Dan has enjoyed an outstanding start to the 2026–2027 season, leading The Novas in scoring with 7 goals and 5 assists for 12 points in just 6 games.

His early-season performance represents tremendous growth from last season, when he recorded 4 goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 28 regular-season games.

Beyond his offensive contributions, Alex Dan has embraced his leadership role, setting a positive example for his teammates through his commitment, determination, and team-first attitude both on and off the ice.

His development as both a player and a leader reflects the values and standards we strive to instill in every Nova.

The Novas and Special Olympics Eastern Highlands Continue a Special Sporting Tradition

The rivalry is alive and well!

On Wednesday evening, The Novas stepped away from the ice and onto the floorball court for their first matchup of the season against the Special Olympics Eastern Highlands Floorball Team.

What began several seasons ago as a friendly competition between two local sporting organizations has developed into a meaningful tradition, bringing together athletes who share a passion for competition, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

While the competitive spirit is always present when these two teams meet, the significance of the occasion reaches well beyond the scoreboard.

For The Novas, these opportunities are an important part of our commitment to developing not only talented hockey players but also strong community citizens of the future.

Participating alongside fellow athletes from Special Olympics Eastern Highlands provides an opportunity to build relationships, develop mutual respect, and celebrate the positive influence sport can have within our communities.

Just as importantly, these encounters recognize the dedication, skill, and competitive spirit of the Eastern Highlands athletes, who continue to make these matchups memorable.

The relationship between the two organizations reflects a shared belief that sport can bring people together, create lasting friendships, and strengthen the communities we represent.

The Nova Elite Hockey Development Association extends its sincere appreciation to the athletes, coaches, organizers, and volunteers of Special Olympics Eastern Highlands for their continued friendship and participation.

We look forward to many more exciting matchups as this rivalry continues to grow.
