Three Novas Alumni Selected in the 2026 Maritime Hockey League Draft
The Novas are proud to congratulate three former players who were selected in the 2026 Maritime Hockey League (MHL) Draft, held Saturday in Campbellton, New Brunswick.
Leading the way was former Novas captain Lucas Chisholm, who was selected by the West Kent Steamers in the 4th Round (45th Overall). Chisholm played two seasons with the Novas from 2023 to 2025, serving as team captain during the 2024-25 season. A dependable two-way defenseman and leader, Lucas was counted on in every situation while helping set the standard both on and off the ice.
Forward Jake MacInnis was selected by the Pictou County Weeks Crushers in the 7th Round (80th Overall). MacInnis suited up for the Novas during the 2023-24 season, where his determination, work ethic, and commitment to improving his game earned the respect of his teammates and coaches.
Defenseman Ryan Davidson was selected by the Chaleur Lightning in the 8th Round (95th Overall). Davidson also played for the Novas during the 2023-24 season and developed into a reliable forward whose steady play and competitiveness made him an important part of the club.
"We're incredibly proud of Lucas, Jake, and Ryan for earning this opportunity," said Head Coach Jamie Mattie. "The MHL Draft is a reflection of the time and effort these players have invested in their development. They embraced being coached, competed every day, and were excellent representatives of the Novas organization. We congratulate all three of them and look forward to watching them continue their hockey journeys."
Player development has always been at the heart of The Novas program, and the selection of three alumni in this year's MHL Draft is another example of the opportunities that exist for players who embrace the process and commit to their development.
Congratulations to Lucas, Jake, and Ryan on this outstanding achievement. The entire Novas organization is proud of you and looks forward to following your Junior A careers.
