Rivermen in wrong place at wrong time

Points were needed after digging a hole on Thursday night and there was going to be no answer today from the Miramichi Rivermen for the Hurricane effort. Simply put, we needed five points, not just a win, and the lunch bucket mentality would bear fruit.

In the first it took four minutes to strike as Christian Tufts (Mulrooney) started things off. Over the next three minutes the score was increased by Morgan Messenger (Duffus), then Shatford (Mulrooney) and finally Jollimore (unassisted) to break things wide open. Before the period ended Catherine Tufts (M Messenger) put the Hurricane up 5 with no answer from the Rivermen.

The second started with the same score as the first 0-0 as points needed to be earned all along the way and the Hurricane left no doubt they we here to collect them all. Josh Shatford (M Messenger, Mann) popped in the first and Ty Duffus (unassisted) added the second on a nice effort that caught the Rivermen napping on the power play to give up one shorthanded. A minute later Jollimore (Catherine Tufts) put the Hurricane up 8-0.

With the outcome never in doubt, the run time feature in the third would mean the Hurricane would have less time to grab the third period points. At 5:55 things finally lined up as 55 Mark Jollimore (unassisted) brought a cheer from the bench as one goal with the way the Hurricane were playing was going to be all we needed to get all five points. Just to make sure, Jordan Messenger (Mann) added the insurance marker to make the final Hurricane 10- Rivermen 0

More work to be done but for now… mission accomplished. KV would be a bigger test.
