Your Cougars are 7-1 on the season after wins over Dartmouth and Cole Harbor
Two wins on the road this weekend push the Cougars to a 7-1 record on the year. Goaltenders LeVatte 4-0 and rookie Hardy 3-1 have given us solid games between the pipes.
On Saturday, against the Dartmouth Whalers, we started the game with 8 forwards and lost another halfway through the 2nd period. However, veterns MacLeod and Ginnish took care of the scoring. Charlie MacLeod had a hat-trick and defenseman Ginnish chipped in with a pair of goals and was solid on the blue-line. Assists went to Sinclair, Gillis, Burman, Gracie and Pheifer. After two periods it was tied at 2-2, but we scored three in the third to seal the victory. LeVatte was solid stopping 31-33 to go 4-0 on the season.
On Sunday, again with 8 forwards, we picked up our second win of the weekend with a 6-5 victory over the SANY Harbour Rage. We ended the 2nd period with a 4-2 lead and scored two early in the 3rd to take a 6-2 lead. However the Rage made it close with 3 goals in the final 9 minutes but we held on for the 6-5 victory. Sinclair lead the offense with a hat-trick and a helper for a 4 point night. C MacLeod buried two goals, while Dunn added a single. Assists went to Andrea with 2, and singles to Gracie, Gillis, Aucoin, Laporte and Burman. Hardy kicked out 17-22 to earn the victory and go to 3-1 on the season.
It was a short bench all weekend for the team, but all players dug down deep to pull out the 2 victories.
We play home this weekend against Truro and The Nova's, but due to a scheduling problem we will not be playing at the Emera Centre. The games will be in Glace Bay or Dominion, stay tuned.
