Andrew Holland Named Hurricanes Bench Boss

The BMO Western Hurricanes Major Bantam Hockey club are pleased to announce the appointment of Shelburne County native Andrew Holland as Head Coach.  Andrew is a former player in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League having played with the South Shore Major Midget Mustangs.  His coaching experience spans over 15 years, having coached Bantam AA and AAA along with being named Hockey Nova Scotia Minor Coach of the Year in 2008/2009. Last season he guided a very young Bantam AA team in Yarmouth to a very solid season.  Prior to that, Andrew was an assistant coach with the Western Hurricanes Major Bantam team from 2011 – 2013.  During those two years, the team won a NSMBHL league championship.

“We have hired a coach that brings a high level of passion, intensity and teaching ability into our Hurricane Hockey program.  We have been impressed with him throughout this process of searching for the person to lead our team.  Having been an assistant coach with our organization during two successful seasons, he understands the philosophy and culture of our club.  His commitment to the team and player development is extremely high”, commented GM and Director of Hockey Operations, Brad Muise.

Mr. Holland had this to say about his new assignment,  “I'm very excited to join the Hurricanes organization again.  I'm looking forward to working with the players from our great area, and continue the solid tradition of Hurricanes Hockey.  Our spring ID camp is just around the corner, and I look forward to seeing the players compete for precious roster spots and getting a start on the team for next season.  I'm sure it will be fun as it is every season."

Andrew will lead the bench staff along with returning assistant coaches Jason Knickle and Jagger Harnish.  The club is looking forward to hitting the ice in just over a week with spring evaluation camp being hosted at Queens Place Emera Centre on April 26th and 27th.
